This FAIRsharing record describes: The CERN Open Science Policy is related to what is described in the CERN Convention, reaffirmed in the update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics in 2020. The CERN Open Science Policy recognise the importance of the research data from CERN, embracing and promoting practices making scientific research more open, collaborative, and responsive to societal changes. The CERN Open Data Policy encourages the research processes and tools fostering international collaborations; supports new and innovative research practices and procedures; enables free dissemination of knowledge and access to research outputs; requires open access to publications and associated metadata; encourages facilitation of data sharing and analysis software; supports the sharing of software and hardware design resources under an appropriate open-source license for free use; enables knowledge preservation supporting reusability and reproducibility of scientific deliverables; supports citizen science and the development of open training and education resources to the research community; builds and maintains the necessary infrastructures to support open science consortiums; fosters new skills and developments for new incentives that support open science practices.
