Phytoplankton were collected from the Thomas G. Thompson as part of the Tropical Ocean and Global Atmosphere (TOGA) program to assess biomass and abundance. Data were collected from the Pacific Ocean (30 N to 30 S) from 03 February 1992 to 13 December 1992. A CTD rosette was employed to obtain samples. Temperature, salinity, and pressure data are not available. Data include nominal depth of samples. Abundance of dinoflagellates, diatoms (dead, containing, no protoplasm), diatoms, cocolithophores, other phytoplankton, and total counts of all phytoplankton cells are in units of cells/liter. Biomass of dinoflagellates, diatoms, cocolithophores, other phytoplankton, and total of all phytoplankton cells are in units of carbon/liter.
