Horm & biomarkers in ICU patients

In this prospective pilot study of 43 critically ill patients, simultaneous measurement of all major GH–IGF axis components and GDF-15 revealed that GDF-15 clusters with the inhibitory IGFBP-1, IGFBP-2, and GHBP, distinct from classical GH-resistance markers, and that this intercorrelation structure is essentially unchanged after adjusting for illness severity (APACHE II, SOFA).
