Data set of body condition parameters and aerobic metabolic performances of four Old-world flycatcher species (Muscicapidae) during spring migration. The species differ in their migration strategies: European robins (Erithacus rubecula) and black redstarts (Phoenicurus ochruros) are short-distance migrants spending their entire annual cycle within the Palaearctic and some populations move from North African non-breeding grounds to breeding sites in continental Europe. In contrast, common redstarts (P. phoenicurus) and whinchats (Saxicola rubetra) are obligate long-distance migrants which overwinter in sub-Saharan Africa and migrate to Palaearctic breeding sites.
