Consumption of olive oil in Tunisia 2015-2020

In the crop year 2019/2020, the consumption of olive oil in Tunisia was forecast to reach 43 thousand metric tons, increasing compared to the previous years. From 2015 onwards, olive oil consumption in the country grew annually, except for declining significantly in 2016/2017. Within the period examined, the domestic consumption remained considerably below the quantity of olive oil produced in Tunisia. This allows the country to export this product in large quantities. Indeed, olive oil is Tunisia’s leading food export in terms of trade value.
