Current Upper Atmospheric Data Forecasts (RAOB)

Upper-atmosphere predictive data service. The service was developed by the Department of Meteorology in cooperation with the Institute of Cyprus and with it, in CSV format and RAOB format, weather forecasts with a time horizon of 5 days are available. The forecasts are produced with a high resolution (2 km) meteorological model (WRF) which is much more detailed than other systems used until recently in Cyprus and the wider area, through the CYTerra project infrastructure, the same supercomputer and the Internet infrastructure of the Cyprus Institute. Running with data of 0000 World Time (usually available at 0900 Local Time) and running with data at 1200 Universal Time (usually available at 2100 local time) and include the following information at all basic isobaric levels: (a) Serious level (b) Temperature in degrees Celsius (c) Drosos point in degrees Celsius (d) Wind direction in degrees (e) Node wind speed Geodynamic height in geodynamic metres A separate file with forecasts per 3 hours shall be provided for each of the following areas. For each region, a total of 40 records corresponding to 5 days forecast are provided. The forecasts made available through the service relate to a total of 6 areas: ATHANASIA LARNACA PAPHOS PARALIMNI CIVIL SOCIETY ROAD The name of the files is as follows: RAOB_CSV_ [AREA] _ [TIME].csv, where [AREA] the area and [TIME] the forecast time + Time x 3 Forecast hours shall be reported in Universal Time (UTC). H Local time = UTC + 2 and for summer hours UTC + 3 (additional summer time) The system updates the information automatically and there is no distinction in the station nomenclature. The only way to understand which file you see is the date and time of the first price offered.
