Insight into the ruminal microbiota of dairy cows using the culturomics and amplicon-based approaches

In the present study, ruminal fluid samples were collected from diary cows, and the rumen bacteria were isolated by using the culturomics approach and identified by the combination of MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry (MS) and 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. The microbial community structure of rumen culturable bacteria were then compared with that of amplicon-based results, Hungate 1000 database and published datasets.
