Microbial Community 16S rRNA profiling of grassland soil enrichments

Bacteroidota species are enriched in the plant microbiome and provide several beneficialfunctions for their host, including disease suppression. Determining the mechanismsunderpinning Bacteroidota recruitment to plant roots is critical for engineering themicrobiome to boost plant health. Emergent data shows plant hemicelluloses represent asignificant fraction of root exudates, however much about their turnover in the rhizosphere is unknown. Soil enrichment was performed to determine consumers under differing carbon conditions.
