Gene Enviroment interaction and the development of AUD in ACOAs

All subjects referring to the out-patients service for alcohol detoxification were screened. Among the eligible subjects we selected all the ACOAs, their siblings and, regardless of whether the parent was alcoholic or not, their offspring. In a sample of 107 ACOAs we evaluated which genetic and environmental factors contribute to the pathogenesis of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). After collecting the main socio-demographic and clinical variables, each subject completed a questionnaire evaluating adverse childhood experiences (Child Experience of Care and Abuse Questionnaire, CECA-Q) and general psychopathology symptoms (Symptoms Check List 90, SCL-90). We further evaluated the genotypes related to 5HTTLPR and Taq1A polymorphisms that has been previously associated with AUD.
