Gull feces were sampled at seven locations in Alaska and cultured for carbapenem resistant E. coli. Seven isolates harbored plasmid-encoded blaKPC-2 or chromosomally-encoded blaOXA-48, and genes associated with antimicrobial resistance towards up to eight antibiotic classes.
