Data corresponding to the research: "Viscous sedimentation of dense suspensions in narrow vertical tubes"

This dataset contains data generated in the research on:Viscous sedimentation of dense suspensions in narrow vertical tubes.<br>The objective of the study is to gain understanding of the influence of confinement on sedimentation of dense suspensions of non-colloidal particles in narrow vertical tubes in the viscous flow regime. To this purpose, we have employed particle-resolved Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS) based on a computationally efficient Immersed Boundary Method (IBM) for the fluid/solid coupling and a frictional soft-sphere collision model for particle contact. We studied both the settling of a single particle and dense particle suspensions in the bulk concentration range of 0.05 ≤ 𝜙𝑏 ≤ 0.3. The influence of confinement was investigated for the range of 𝐷/𝑑 = 2 − 11, with 𝐷 the tube diameter and 𝑑 the diameter of the spherical particles.<br>The results are published in Chapter 2 of the dissertation:Rheology and sedimentation of dense suspensions in confined geometries: Insights from particle-resolved direct numerical simulationsby Wouter Peerbooms
