The Department of Transport and Main Roads contracts with ferry operators and is responsible for the provision of services between these centres:- Palm Island to Townsville- Magnetic Island to Townsville- Thursday Island to Seisia- Coochiemudlo Island to Victoria Point- North Stradbroke Island to Cleveland- Southern Moreton Bay Islands (Russell Island, Macleay Island, Karragarra Island and Lamb Island) to Redland Bay.The following school services operate under the School Transport Assistance Scheme:- Townsville to Magnetic Island- Thursday Island to Horn Island- Thursday Island to Prince of Wales Island- Hammond Island to Thursday Island.
