A genetic linkage map of Notothenia coriiceps was generated using RAD tags as markers and the 11 linkage groups corresponds to the described 11 cytological chromosomes. Conservation of synteny to other Teleost species permitted the identification of the ancestral chromosomes that were involved in the reduction of the chromosome number from the ancestral 24 chromosomes to the current 11 chromosomes in this species.
