Questionnaire records of introduced plant-bird interactions observed by ornithologists in California, Washington, New York, and Florida

Ornithologists in four states (California, Washington, New York, and Florida) were surveyed by mail questionnaire and asked to report observations of bird use of introduced plants. Reported observations included habitat usage (e.g., roosting, nesting, gleaning, woodpecking) and feeding interactions(i.e., potential seed dispersal). The purpose of the study was to ascertain the degree to which introduced plants are integrated into avian habitat in widespread U.S. regions, and to evaluate potential for bird dispersal of nonnative plants.
