The Global Carbon Dioxide Monitoring Scientific Experimental Satellite, abbreviated as TanSat, is the first scientific experimental satellite for global atmospheric carbon dioxide observation independently developed by China. It carries two scientific payloads with an integrated design: the hyperspectral carbon dioxide detector and the auxiliary multi-spectral cloud and aerosol detector. On December 22, 2016 at 3:22, China successfully launched TanSat via a Long March 2D carrier rocket at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
