Sweep net dataset

Various insect RTUs and their frequencies and variability were observed in Danby grasslands. We positioned a transect tape of length 25 meters in a straight line along the floor of the grassland and then proceeded to walk along the line while attempting to capture individuals with a sweep net, using a figure eight motion such that both sides of the transect line were encompassed, within a range of an arm’s length on either side. At the end of each transect, the contents of the net were examined and the following was recorded based on the sample: the transect number, total number of individuals captured, Recognizable Taxonomic Units (RTUs), and number of RTUs. This was repeated ten times, along different transect lines within the grassland.
