NRS-13861 | Engraved copper plates of Sir Thomas Mitchell's map of the nineteen counties [Surveyor General]

The three copper plates were made from measurements with the chain and circumferenter and according to a trigonometrical survey by Sir Thomas Mitchell. The engraver was John Carmichael and the plates were republished in London in 1834 as one sheet map. The area covered is from Trial Bay to Moruya and the Wellington Valley to the sea. The plates show names of counties, settlements, houses, roads, tracks, trig. stations, rivers and creeks.
