Glass, olivine and spinel analyses from the Cracked Mountain basalts, Mount Meager Volcanic Complex (British Columbia, Canada)

This dataset presents compositional analyses of basaltic samples from the Cracked Mountain area of the Mount Meager Volcanic Complex, British Columbia, Canada. It includes electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) data from three samples: one tephra deposit and two pillow lavas. The analyses focus on glass and mineral phases to explore magmatic processes and pre-eruptive conditions. Glass compositions were obtained from scattered points in thin sections, glass in contact with olivine rims, and melt inclusions or embayments within olivine phenocrysts. Olivine analyses include core compositions and compositional profiles from rims to cores, highlighting chemical zoning (used for diffusion chronometry). In addition, spinel inclusions were analysed to characterise how their compositions relate to their spatial distribution, and include those found in olivine cores, rims, embayments, and along olivine edges.
