RNA Sequencing of Semitendinosus Skeletal Muscle from Intrauterine Growth Restricted and Normally-Grown Near Term Sheep Fetuses and 30 day old Lambs

The study objective was to determine differentially expressed mRNA transcripts in skeletal muscle from fetal sheep and 30 day old lambs to determine persistent gene changes following placental insufficiency-induced intrauterine growth restriction. Semitendinosus muscle was isolated for high-throughput sequencing from 30 day old lambs and sheep fetuses with placental insufficiency-induced IUGR and controls. IUGR and control lambs were nourished the same with milk replacer to eliminate variables from maternal milk production.
