%% Rapid Soil-Moisture Swing Analysis% -------------------------------------------------------------------------% PURPOSE% Detect rapid transitions between drought and pluvial soil-moisture% conditions for an example grid cell from 1950-01-01 to 2021-12-31.%% DPAT: drought-pluvial abrupt transition% PDAT: pluvial-drought abrupt transition%% INPUT% sample.mat contains a 26,298 × 3 daily time-series matrix:% Col 1: root-zone soil-moisture storage [mm H2O]% Col 2: rainfall [mm day^-1]% Col 3: evapotranspiration [mm day^-1]% % METHOD% 1. Calculate net rainfall and dynamic soil-moisture percentile thresholds.% 2. Identify persistent drought and pluvial stages subject to duration and% rainfall constraints.% 3. Detect DPAT and PDAT events when opposing stages occur within 20 days.% 4.
