In 2022, the annual average amount of professionals working in the tourism industry in Spain increased over 11 percent from the previous year, reaching the highest amount recorded since at least 2006. In 2020, due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the number of employees decreased from 2.4 million in 2019 to 2.2 million.
