Wetland restoration project, Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens

The project will restore wetland edges through native species plantings, to enhance water quality, provide native fauna habitat, showcase the use of native wetland species for improving water quality, provide an educational resource for community to learn about wetland function and ecology and demonstrate the amenity value of native wetland species in horticulture.

Project activities will include site preparation and weed management, seed propagation at the Botanic Gardens nursery, successive planting of native wetland species in the macrophyte zone and along wetland edges, community involvement through community planting days, construction of viewing areas and development of interpretive material for self guided walks through the area.
