资源简介:
"Enon. Das Auto v. Br. Wedemann aus Port Elisabeth." ("Enon. The car o[f] Br[other] Wedemann from Port Elisabeth."). The picture shows four men and a car. Two men are of European origin, the others probably of African origin. Three men carry something into the car on the right side. One man stands next to it on the left. In the background houses and hills. Written on the card board: "Br. Baudert 1930." ("Br[other] Baudert 1930.").; Gustav Wedemann (1847-1915), born in Bethanien and died in Kleinwelka, was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1877 until 1911 after having married Marie Magdalene, née Drexler (1856-1925). He served in Genadendal from 1877-1881 and again from 1889-1911, as well as in Elim from 1881-1889. During the years of 1900/01 he was on home leave in Germany where he went back to after his retirement in 1911. -- The picture was probably taken by Samuel Baudert (1879-1956), born as son of the missionary Samuel Baudert in South Africa. He was the mission director of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1924 to 1927 and since 1929 their bishop. It might also be possible that the picture was taken by Eugen Theodor Baudert (1876-1953) who worked as a lecturer at the theological seminar in Mvenyane.
