Hypotensive major health effect of Rubus ulmifolius Schott. and Artemisia campestris L. highlighted by nutrigenomic and cardiovascular studies

To evaluate the antihypertensive effect of Artemisia campestris and Rubus ulmifolius, we conducted a nutrigenomic analysis to examine the changes induced by the administration of the aqueous extracts of these plants on gene expression in mice. Cardiovascular effects were discussed together with antitumoral, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and eating behavior effects. Mice were fed with an aqueous extract of A. campestis (AEAc) and R. ulmifolius (AERu). The mice gavages consisted in a daily force-feeding of 500 µl of extract solution of Ar, Ru or wather (control - Ctr) besides the standard chow. Three mice for each condition were sacrificed. The central core of the liver left lobe was cut into cubes and immediately frozen on liquid azote and stored as individual samples at -80°C for transcriptomics.
