VPRS 17132 Index to Chairman of Commissioners' Numerical Files

Under the Local Government (City of Melbourne) Act 1981 the Governor in Council was authorized to appoint three Commissioners who were to replace the elected Council for a period of time. They were to carry out the administration of the Corporation of the City of Melbourne and to improve the administration of the Corporation. During their time in office the Commissioners were to be deemed to be councillors and deemed to constitute the Council of the City of Melbourne (s.7 (b)). Their duties and other matters are described in the Act. This Act was repealed by the Melbourne Corporation (Election of Council) Act 1982 which deals with the restoration of the elected council.Information in the Index includes the file number and file title.
