Estimating Varroa destructor hybridization rate by linkage map

This project aims to estimate the hybridization rate of Varroa destructor genome, a parasitic mite of honeybees, which cause global colony collapses by transmitting deadly viruses.For that, we constructed a linkage map of the mite genome by sequencing genomes of 223 varroa mites, belonging to 30 families, obtained from 3 honey bee colonies (Apis mellifera), between July and October 2020, in Okinawa, Japan.Each mite family consists of 3 generations, and contain at least:- foundress female mite- son and daughter- at least one grandchild (male/female)
