In recent years, research on natural language processing methods for analyzing counseling dialogues has made substantial progress, yet research in this field remains extremely limited due to the lack of publicly available expert-annotated therapeutic dialogues.
In this paper, we introduce AnnoMI, the first publicly and freely accessible professionally transcribed dialogue dataset featuring high-quality and low-quality Motivational Interviewing (MI), an effective counseling technique, with key MI aspects annotated by domain experts.
This release includes:
1. Metadata for each transcript and utterance, such as the demonstrated MI quality and the URL of the original video.
2. The full text of every utterance.
3. Annotations for each utterance: (primarily) therapist behaviors for each therapist utterance and client talk types for each client utterance.
