The Role of Musical Folklore in Developing the Student's Personality

The study of musical folklore in musical education lessons is of particular importance, because it teaches the students about Romanian musicality and helps develop their personalities and form a system of values to which they will refer in their personal development. In addition to knowing and understanding the historical past through musical folklore, the students will discover the aesthetic aspect of popular music and will develop the ability to correlate Romanian culture to other European cultures and to the globalization process. Listening to folklore creations can sensitize the students emotionally, it spiritually motivates them by conveying the message of the folk text but also through the tune, the various rhythms and melodic lines consecrated by popular tradition.
