Apparent dissociation constant (KDapp) for the WT and mutant MC1 proteins obtained from EMSA experiments.

Binding curves (Supplementary Figure S3) obtained from EMSA experiments were fitted with the equation: Y = [MC1] / ([MC1] + KDapp), where Y is the fraction of the bound 26 bp DNA, and [MC1] is the free protein concentration approximated by the total protein concentration in our experimental conditions. Each KDapp value is the mean ± standard deviation of three independent experiments.
