Building ground class map Canton of Schaffhausen

The map of the building ground classes was prepared in 2017 on the basis of the standard SIA 261, issue 2014, and was initially posted in the GIS Schaffhausen in 2018. This card is an indication card, which means that it has no legal obligation and is therefore of purely informative nature. The map of the seismic ground classes gives a rough overview of which areas in the event of an earthquake have a rather favourable or rather unfavorable ground and whether more detailed investigations are therefore necessary in the case of a construction project. The excretion of the building ground classes represents a simplification of the subsurface conditions and is not parcel-sharp due to the machining scale of 1:25'000. The map of the building ground classes serves planners (geologists, engineers, architects) for the general qualitative evaluation of site effects in earthquakes and thus as the basis for the earthquake-friendly design of structural structures. The details of the map must be checked on a location-specific basis. If local geotechnical investigations result in deviations from the building ground class map, the local findings should be used for the dimensioning of the structures.
