Transcriptome sequencing of two cucumber varieties under high CO2 and low nitrogen conditions

Two cucumber varieties (European greenhouse-type cucumber inbred line X1 and Southern Asian type cucumber inbred line PD), differing in their ability to adapt to high CO2 and low nitrogen environment, were investigated. At the five-leaf stage (from base toward apex), the third true leaves (this leaf area is the largest) and roots from X1 and PD plants grown under four different carbon/nitrogen conditions were collected from three independent replicates for transcriptome sequencing. The result showed that many differentially expressed genes were significantly enriched in carbon/nitrogen metabolism pathways.
