Procedure for classification L 214-17 of the Environmental Code
The orders for classifying watercourses in List 1 and List 2 under Article L.214-17 of the Environmental Code were signed on 10 July 2012 by the Prefect Coordinator of the Loire-Bretagne Basin and published in the Official Journal on July 22.
The procedure conducted by the prefect coordinator of the Loire-Bretagne basin was launched in April 2010.
This new ranking of watercourses contributes to the implementation of the 2010-2015 Sdage, integrating the challenges related to ecological continuity and framing of the various European regulations.
The definition of this new classification was first marked by departmental consultations with water stakeholders and a study of the impact of rankings on uses, which made it possible to understand the economic and environmental costs and benefits, both merchant and non-market, brought by the classification. In a second step, and after harmonisation at the basin level, the classification project was submitted for consultation with the General Councils, the Regions, the Territorial Public Establishments of Basin and the Local Water Commissions.
