Uterine fibroids affect 0.1–10% of pregnant women and are associated with increased risk of uterine contractility disorders, abdominal pain, threatened miscarriage and preterm labor. Understanding the pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of fibroid-related pain and contractile dysfunction during pregnancy is essential for evidence-based management and improvement of maternal-fetal outcomes.
