The product “Regulation – Navigation” contains 18 classes of objects, the acronyms used are those of IHO Standard S-57 – International Hydrographic Organisation – (https://iho.int/):
— Anchoring area (ACHARE): area for anchoring a vessel
— Anchoring station (ACHBRT):designated place for anchoring a ship, seaplane, etc.

— Ice zone (above land or sea) (ICEARE)
— Local magnetic anomaly (LOCMAG): anomaly of the Earth’s magnetic field caused by local influences and of interest only in an area of relatively small extent.
— Marine farm (MARCUL)
— Alignment or raising (NAVLNE):straight line usually defined by two bitters clearly indicated on a map, along which a ship can partly en route safely, to enter a pass, to guard a danger, etc.
— Submarine Pipeline Area (PIPARE)
— Recommended route (RECTRC): road which has been specifically examined to ensure, as far as practicable, that the track is free from danger; route along which ships are recommended to sail.
— Restriction zone (Resare): special area established by the qualified authorities. Access to and navigation within this area are subject to special conditions.
— Landing zone for seaplanes (SPLARE)
Detailed definitions of each of these object classes can be found in S-57 (https://iho.int/en/standards-and-specifications).
An online catalogue is available at http://www.s-57.com/.
Some symbols used for display on the data.shom.fr portal have been adapted from the openSeaMap open library (https://github.com/OpenNauticalChart/).
For legibility reasons, not all features of objects are displayed systematically. All available information can be consulted by querying this layer.
