Apremilast and Neutrophilic Follicular Disorders

The purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate the potential of apremilast as a novel treatment for non-hidradenitis suppurativa neutrophilic follicular disorders. We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Wiley Online Library for articles related to apremilast and folliculitis, acne, pyoderma gangrenosum or cellulitis (Mendeley Table S1). Of the 428 articles screened, 14 met the criteria for inclusion (Mendeley Figure S1). The 2009 Oxford levels of evidence, Joanna Briggs Institute, Critical Appraisal Checklist and Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation were used to evaluate the quality of all articles included (Mendeley Table S2). From each study, data were extracted on publication year, patient demographics, prior treatments, apremilast dose and frequency, concomittant therapies, side effects, time to remission and duration of remission (Mendeley Table S3).
