Salisediminibacterium beveridgei strain:MLTeJB Genome sequencing. Salisediminibacterium beveridgei strain:MLTeJB

The genome of B. beveridgei MLTeJB was sequenced to facilitate its use as a model organism. This organism utilizes toxic oxyanions of Te, Se and As as terminal electron acceptors for energy metabolism. When grown on Te oxyanions, Te(0) is precipitated as extracellular structures. Therefore, this genome sequence will further our understanding of the biogeochemistry of heavy group VI elements and the potential use of microbes to remove these elements from contaminated systems and transform them into potentially useful products.
