Overlap Zoo Beta: A Catalogue of ~800 Occulting Pairs in the DESI Legacy Survey using Citizen Science

This repository contains the data released in the paper "Overlap Zoo Beta: A Catalogue of ~800 Occulting Pairs in the DESI Legacy Survey Using Citizen Science" (Published Paper). This catalogue includes three datasets: A dataset containing vote counts (e.g. t00_overlap_type_a0_spiral_spiral_counts) and vote fractions (e.g. t00_overlap_type_a0_spiral_spiral_fraction) for each pair. A dataset is provided containing the user-drawn annotation coordinates from Zooniverse (e.g., t6_foreground_point_center_x) along with the corresponding Image Scale Factor (ISF) for each subject. Because the pixel coordinates in the dataset were collected from scaled images shown to volunteers, they do not match the original, full-resolution image coordinates. To convert any annotated value back to its original pixel location, multiply the recorded coordinate by the ISF. A dataset is provided containing the galaxy pairs that could be categorized using the pair-type scheme defined in Keel+2013 (e.g., S, SE, E, etc.). For each pair, the dataset includes the corresponding object IDs, magnitudes, and redshifts when available. The flag column contains the following indicators dz identifies pairs with a sufficiently large redshift difference to rule out physical interaction. t indicates pairs that required tie-correction (weighting) during classification or aggregation.
