A greenhouse experiment was conducted with Plantago erecta and several soil types: serpentine soil, nonserpentine soil, serpentine soil with nonserpentine microbes and nonserpentine soils with serpentine microbes. DNA from rhizosphere soil of Plantago erecta at the seedling, bolting, vegetative growth, and flowering stages was extracted and sequenced.
