Importin-β negatively regulates multiple aspects of mitosis including RANGAP1 recruitment to kinetochores

RANGAP1 localization in a metaphase cell transfected with importin-beta 1-876 (full-length) and with H2B-GFP to visualize chromosomes in the transfected cell. RANGAP1 is stained in red, alpha tubulin in blue and H2B in green. Note that the shape of the metaphase spindle is comparable to that of the control cell, yet RANGAP1 accumulation at attached kinetochores is severely impaired.
