A comparative study of the gut microbiota in mudskippers and other fish species

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of gastrointestinal microbiota composition in several fishes by using 16S amplicon and metagenome sequencing. The composition of the gut microbiota is altered in fish living in different habitats. Moreover, we also show that several microorganisms among groups demonstrated significant compositional differences. Further research into these microorganisms and their associated functions within the host are needed in order to establish any causality in fish disease pathogenesis and develop
