Solar photovoltaic self-consumption capacity in France Q1 2018-Q1 2024, by type

As of March 2024, the cumulative capacity of photovoltaic power produced for self-consumption in France was around 2.6 gigawatts. Solar PV production with electricity surplus injection into the electricity grid constituted the largest share of this capacity, with over 2.2 gigawatts. In comparison, the PV self-consumption capacity without injection amounted to only 428 megawatts. In 2022, PV installations with surplus injection represented over 90 percent of the total PV energy installation in self-consumption in France.
