Shotgun metagenomics of the larval gut microbiome of Hermetia illucens on two different diets

Whole genome shotgun sequencing was used to identify the black soldier fly larvae gut metagenome. Larvae were reared on either a chicken feed or an artificial supermarket food waste diet for eight days. DNA was extracted from the dissected guts of the larvae and pooled per five guts before DNA extraction.
