Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies among Brazilian Military

This data set refers to the answers given by 337 military participants for the psychometric study of the Cognitive Emotions Regulation Scale - Short Version (CERQ-SF) in Brazil. The measure assesses cognitive strategies used to understand emotions after stressful events. It consists of 18 items divided into two second-order factors (adaptive and maladaptive strategies) and nine first-order factors: acceptance (items 21 and 5), positive refocusing (items 3 and 8), refocus on planning (items 12 and 15), positive reappraisal (items 7 and 11), perspective (items 13 and 16), self-blame (items 4 and 14), rumination (items 2 and 6), catastrophizing (items 9 and 17), and blaming others (items 10 and 18). Responses are on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = almost never; 5 = almost always).
