NRS-12450 | Engraved copper plates of a hydrographic chart of Broken Bay and the Hawkesbury River

Two engraved copper plates were forwarded to State Records by the Hydrographic Service of the Royal Australian Navy. The chart was based on a survey by Lieutenant Gowlland, R.N., in 1872 and the plates were engraved by Davies and Company of London for the New South Wales Government. It appears that the New South Wales Government paid for both the survey and the production of the chart. The dimensions of each plate are 40 x 27 x 1/8 inches.(X997A & B). 2 plates.
