The mechanisms of lipid presentation by CD1b and T cell receptor recognition

Autoimmune diseases place a large health burden on our society with many people either suffering from an autoimmune disease have family members or friends who are. Autoimmune diseases arise from the body reacting to and attacking itself. My PhD has been focused on auto immune diseases such as multiple sclerosis, cancer and psoriasis and understanding the role fat molecules play in the establishment of these diseases. In understanding the how fats are involved in the establishment of autoimmune diseases we can begin to develop better therapeutics to either aid in the treatment of these diseases or even prevent their development.
