Moving Symbols

We present a parametric synthetic dataset named Moving Symbols to support objective research on video prediction networks. Using several instances of the dataset with explicitly controlled variations, we highlight the issues in current state-of-the-art methods, and propose the use of performance metrics with greater semantic meaning to enhance experimental interpretability. Our dataset provides standardized test cases that will help the research community better understand and ultimately improve the representations learned by these networks in future work.
