Mills and millers in 1801

Three investigations into flour mills were carried out by the State between the years II (1794) and 1809. The survey of the year X (1801) concerns more specifically the supply of Paris. The replies include, in addition to the expected economic and statistical information, the list of millers. This survey concerns only 8 departments (Aisne, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Loiret, Marne, Oise, Seine, Seine-et-Marne and Seine-et-Oise), still representing 5157 mills. The dataset made available comes from a nominative index drawn up in the 1990s by Mr Illaire ([consultable online](https://www.siv.archives-nationales.culture.gouv.fr/siv/IR/FRAN_IR_058838)). The following information shall be listed for each mill: * name of miller; * sucker’s first name (if applicable); * common exercise; * department; * type of mill (water or wind); * name of mill; * possible comments; * URL of the notice on the National Archives portal; * rating. A miller who can own several mills, an individual may have several entrances.
