Acute Respiratory Viruses are Linked to Bacterial Airways Infection and Microbial Dysbiosis Confirmed by Culture, 16S qPCR and 16S rRNA Sequencing

Respiratory viruses are increasingly seen as cofactors in bacterial airways infection and may be lead to bacterial pneumonia. This study addressed their role in hospitalised patients tested for airways infection by culture, 16S qPCR and 16S rRNA whole operon sequencing (16S WOS). The potential for using 16S qPCR and 16S WOS was also addressed.
