The Rapid Rise of Fraktur, DHD 2020, Data

This CSV file contains the data used in "The rapid rise of Fraktur", by Weichselbaumer et al., at the DHd2020 conference. The four columns of this file are: Book ID from the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek Publication year, extracted from the books' metadata The language of the books (here: always German) The main font group of the book, as recognised by an <strong>automatic</strong> method The CSV file provides information for a total of 85'223 books. Their pages 10 to 19 have been classified, and the books have been retained in this file if at least 6 of the pages were attributed the same main font group. Only books in German and for which the printing date is known have been considered. Some of the results have been checked by experts as the font was unusual for the date of the book (see corresponding publication for more details).
