Attitudes to ICT careers and study among 13 to 19 year old Victorians

The study investigated the drivers and barriers to young people's decisions\r\nregarding post compulsory ICT study and careers including career influences,\r\nfuture careers and aspirations, understanding and perceptions of ICT,\r\nunderstanding of an ICT career and interest in an ICT career.  The research\r\nincluded qualitative research (focus groups, online discussion forum and depth\r\ninterviews with the target group) and quantitative research (an online survey)\r\nconducted across Melbourne and regional Victoria and included students form\r\nboth independent and Government schools.  Fieldwork was conducted in July and\r\nAugust 2012. The 2012 research builds on previous research conducted in 2009\r\nand allows for the data to be compared.  The Department has commissioned\r\nsimilar research in 2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012.  Reports from previous years\r\nare available on request.\r\n\r\n
